The Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused the opposition parliament of high treason and plans to submit a proper statement to the Foreign Ministry and Prosecutor's Office. "I would like to organize a historical process which will show the entire nation that the Parliament usurps the power and betrays the motherland," said Maduro, according to AVN.

Maduro noted that the reason of such a severe reaction is the fact that the chairman of the Parliament Enri Ramos has called on foreign countries to interfere into the Venezuelan affairs. This statement was made on Globovision television channel on May 24. Ramos said he was going to speak at the United Nations, urging to intervene into the situation created in the country. Maduro said that it is only the president of the country that has the right to make such a call. "What Ramos did is a crime," he said. Ramos has already responded to Maduro's announcement, saying with a sarcasm that he is scared.
