During the discussion of the Armenian Genocide resolution in the Bundestag, the initiator of the Armenian Genocide resolution, the chairman of the Greens, Cem Özdemir, announced that Germany must recognize and accept responsibility for the Genocide of Armenians. Özdemir had a forget-me-not pinned to his suit,  a symbol honoring the memory of the Armenian Genocides’ victims.

Welcoming the Armenian and Assyrian representatives in the hall, he said: "Today we presented a document for a vote which would facilitate the settlement and rapprochement of the relationship between the Turks and Armenians.  We are thankful to our coalition for keeping its word. Now, the Herero Genocide is waiting for its turn. The Balkan Muslims, Circassianс, who also went through the genocide are waiting for their turn. Today, the Iraqi and Syrian Christians are being persecuted again. The Armenians are persecuted again in places where they were saved from the genocide, for example in Aleppo," said Ozdemir.

According to him , today the Turks take the word an Armenian as an offensive.

"I am also called an Armenian, but I do not get offended by it. I am thankful to the President and Members of the Bundestag for not being rebounded from the threat," he concluded.

As reported earlier, the resolution clearly states the term genocide: "In the memory the Armenians’ and other Christians’ Genocide in the Ottoman Empire 101 years ago“ is the title of the resolution. At this time , there takes place a demonstration of the Armenian community in front of the Bundestag in Berlin . The participants of the demonstration hold the flags of Armenia, Greece, and other countries. The protesters made a' chain of truth "  for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
