YEREVAN. - In 2016 Armenia is going to export 1 billion 21 million kWh to Iran, reads the forecast balance of Armenia’s power generation and supplies for 2015-16 and 2016-17 tariff seasons (August-July), drawn up by the Electric Power System Operator CJSC.

Out of the mentioned 1021 mln kWh, 533,2 mln and 487,7mln kWh are planned to be exported from the 5th power unit of Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) and Yerevan TPP respectively.

The overall export will include nearly 15 percent of the total supplies from power plants (Armenia does not export electricity to other countries).

During the first seven months in 2017 it is planned to export about 657 mln kWh, specifically 514,4 mln and 142,6 mln from Yerevan TPP and Hrazdan 5 respectively.  The export will again amount to roughly 15 percent of supplies to the network.

Armenia exports electricity to Iran in exchange for gas received for Yerevan TPP.
