The last few years have shown that the Karabakh negotiation process can be more or less effective if the parties fulfill their obligations; that is, they make their actions consistent with the provisions of the ceasefire agreement signed in 1994 and 1995.

The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Monday stated the aforesaid prior to his talk with his Russian and Azerbaijani counterparts, in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and in response to the journalists’ query on his expectations from his forthcoming trilateral meeting with the Russian and Azerbaijani leaders.

“The [Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group] co-chairs’ statement in Vienna on May 16 also speaks of this,” noted Sargsyan. “I expect that we finally will come to an arrangement in Saint Petersburg and [that] Azerbaijan will fulfill its obligations, [that] there will be no violations at the borders, and [that] we will continue the negotiation process, with the good intention of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution.”
