YEREVAN. – Naturally, France collaborates with respect to establishing mechanisms for investigating incidents at the line of contact in Karabakh, French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-François Charpentier said at a press conference on Tuesday.

In his words, this was a key matter during the Karabakh talks that were conducted recently in the Austrian capital city of Vienna.

“This is a crucial matter for us; this will enable to strengthen confidence[-building] measures,” noted the ambassador. “This also envisions a second component: the extending of the powers of the office of Mr. [Andrzej] Kasprzyk, Personal Representative to the OSCE [i.e. the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe] Chairperson-in-Office, and of the oversight mechanisms which will enable to uncover the incidents that occurred [in the Karabakh conflict zone] at the beginning of April.”

In his words, France and its partners are actively working in this direction.

“Active work is underway today, within the framework of the OSCE,” stressed Jean-François Charpentier.
