The UN Security Council will hold the first preliminary vote in the election procedure of the Secretary General of the organization to reduce the number of candidates for the post on July 21. At present their number is 11.

The vote will be conducted in the strictest secrecy: only permanent representatives of 15 member states accompanied by one expert will be allowed to the room for the closed meetings. Neither translators, nor representatives of the secretariat will be indoors. The purpose is not to allow any leaks, TASS reported quoting the diplomat of one of the Security Council member countries .

According to him, each member of the Security Council will be given a voting bulletin in which three options will be offered: "I support", "I don't support", "I have no opinion". The survey results will not be announced publicly - they will be transferred to ambassadors of the countries that are represented by candidates. It is meant that those who enjoy the smallest support among members of UNSC will withdraw the candidacy.
