YEREVAN. - The relations between Armenia and Turkey must improve, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and German FM Frank-Walter Steinmeier stated Wednesday at a joint press-conference with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian in Yerevan.

To the comment that he contributed to the adoption of the resolution on the Armenian Genocide recognition by Bundestag, without ever using the word “genocide” himself, the German FM noted that such issues are not solved by using one word.

In his words, it is instead necessary to consider the importance of the fact that such a resolution has been adopted after 100 years. “We think that the ties between Armenia and Turkey should improve,” Steinmeier noted, adding that Germany’s role in the events of the beginning of the century has been studied.
