The police detained to interrogate the mother of four children who were killed with cold arms in an apartment in Memphis, Tennessee, reports RIA Novosti.

The police was called on Friday afternoon to a residential quarters in Shelby County, where the bodies of four children had been found. The mother of dead children was detained for interrogation. No charges were brought against her, reports the Associated Press.

The incident shocked both the police and residents of the quarters. "This is an egregious act of evil that has shocked us to our core. I will never understand how anyone can do this," said Bill Oldham, Shelby County Sheriff

According to him , the Prosecutor General's Office has joined the  investigation. In his turn, the Mayor of the city Mark Lyuttrell promised to allocate all the necessary resources to investigate the crime. " The most difficult for investigators question - why did it happen? ", said the sheriff . According to the neighbors , children who were killing were up to six years old.
