YEREVAN. – A contract has been signed with the AB Substations and Cobra Instalaciones Y Servicios S.A. consortium (Sweden/Spain), which is the general contractor for the construction of the new substation of Yerevan Thermal Power Plant (TPP), in the capital city of Armenia.
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the contract price is US$11.3 million, €4.7 million, and 6.9 million Swedish kronor (approx. US$804,861).
The new substation will help reduce the frequency of equipment failure at the functioning substation, which was put into operation back in 1963.
Yerevan TPP supplies around 20 percent of the electricity produced in Armenia.
Construction of the new substation is expected to be completed in 17 months.
