Sixteen people were killed and 12 were injured as passenger bus overturned on Karaj-Chalus, north of Tehran, Tasnim News Agency reported quoting the managing director of Iran’s Red Crescent Society (IRCS).
Ehsan Nasiri said the bus hit a power pole in Karaj-Chalus road and overturned at 2:55 a.m. (local time) on Saturday morning.
Karaj-Chalus road is very popular among tourists: travelers often use this road to reach the sights in the north of the country. However, it is considered quite dangerous due to the terrain.
