Even 500 years ago, as well as now, people liked to eat bread and meat, scientists stated.

They came to such conclusion after analyzing pictures of the 6th century, Sage Open reported.

In total, researchers have examined 750 food-related paintings by the European artists. And, as it turned out, most of the artists, drawing food, portrayed bread and greasy meat.

Bread is present on 86% of paintings. The meat can be found on 61%, and only 22% of pictures have vegetables. Artichokes and lemons can be seen more often than other fruits and vegetables. Mussels also were popular then.

Researchers note that taste preferences of people remain almost unchanged for 500 years. Europeans still like harmful food – which is constantly criticized by nutritionists.

And although numerous researches have proved that greasy meat is harmful, people still cannot give it up , owing to centuries-old addiction.
