U.S. President Barack Obama wrote a speech for performance at Democratic National Convention half a night rewriting it six times, the Guardian reported.

The edition noted that Obama prepared six drafts of his speech and did not sleep until 03.30 am rereading it.

According to the Guardian, Obama refused idea of performance with the farewell speech similar to the one which was made by 40th U.S. President Ronald Reagan in 1988 and 42nd U.S. President Bill Clinton in 2000. According to Obama, he wanted his speech to be devoted to a candidate for the U.S. president from Democratic Party Hillary Clinton.

As it was reported earlier, Obama delivered a 45-minute speech, urging Americans to vote for Clinton whom he characterized as a tough rigid and clever leader, worthy of the post of the Commander-in-Chief.

General elections will be held in the U.S. on 8 November. The main rivals of Clinton and candidate for vice-president of the Democratic Party Senator Tim Kane will be Donald Trump and Republican Mike Pence, who were nominated at a congress of their party last week, RIA Novosti reported.
