YEREVAN. – Heritage party issued a statement in connection with yesterday's skirmish between participants of the rally in support of the seized police regiment and police.

Authors of the statement believe that the events of the evening were the continuation of “the rigged elections and human rights violations following the referendum, a clear manifestation of the use of brutal force.”

“The regime physically humiliated, terrorized and detained hundreds of civilians, including journalists because of implementation of their right to peaceful rallies,
 the statement reads.

It notes that most of the night detentions were accompanied by unprecedented violence. Among the detainees are Heritage members Armen Martirosyan, David Sanasaryan, Hovsep Khurshudyan, Susanna Muradyan. Their whereabouts are unknown, the statement said.

The authors call for release of political prisoners and the resignation of the regime, and encourage the citizens to work together to achieve formation of a constitutional state, guided by the principle of free and fair elections, respect for the dignity of the citizens, their fundamental rights and freedoms.
