YEREVAN. - The Armenian Ambulance service is concerned by the fate of the two paramedics who still remain in the territory of the seized police station in Yerevan, capital city of Armenia.

Ambulance CJSC director Taguhi Stepanyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am that after receiving information on the killing of a policeman, they got worried and phoned doctor Norayr Tevanyan, who is inside the police station.

The latter informed that they are alarmed by the continuous shots being fired.

“Our doctors held hostage are rather alarmed. This was also noticeable from his voice. The head of the substation told them that if they are so alarmed let them stand up and say that they are leaving. If they are insisting that they are not holding them hostage, then they shouldn’t stop them,” Stepanyan said.

In her words, the connection was interrupted. After ten minutes, the head of the substation again tried to phone Norayr, but another person, who refused to introduce himself, answered the phone but declined to pass it to Norayr, noting that he is busy.

The third call was also answered by that person, who said that he didn’t find it appropriate to pass the phone to the paramedics. To the request of the head of the substation to release at least the nurse, the mentioned person responded that the doctors who are in the police station are good specialists, whose presence is necessary in the regiment.

It is already the fourth day the paramedics have been inside the seized police station. Earlier, two of them left the place, while another two remain in the territory seized by the armed group.
