The US authorities do not want to discredit Russia in regard to Syrian issues and seek a consensus, declared the State Department spokesman John Kirby, reports the Ria Novosti. Answering to the question whether the US seems "naive" speaking about a coalition with Russia, when being warned about the air strikes in Syria by the Russian Aerospace Forces at the very last minute, Kirby said that the US must be careful with Russia on that issue.

"I do not think the US seems naïve. They announced a search for a political solution - a transitional government that the Syrian people can have in Damascus which will represent their needs. It is difficult to say what one wants to do, when one continues to conduct strikes in the same manner," said Kirby to CNN.

"The US goal is not to discredit Russia, and that Russian authorities had indeed contributed to the political settlement referred to, and which they, according to them, desire. There was a time when the Russians have shown that they exert pressure on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to curb violence," he added.

He noted that now they are carrying out negotiations with Russia. "There are teams that try to work out proposals with the Russians to get a real cessation of hostility," said Kirby. In response to the question, whether the US is disappointed in the lack of leverages of solving the Syrian issue at the international level, Kirby replied that the issue is not about leverages , but about the importance of a consensus .
