YEREVAN. – If there is no talk on mutual concessions, how can negotiations be conducted regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict?

Aram Manukyan, secretary of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) National Assembly Faction, asked the aforesaid at a press conference on Tuesday.

In his words, the widespread “euphoria” in Armenia, according to which the Armenian party to the conflict should not make any concessions and adopt the precept of “[handing over] no piece of land,” is incomprehensible.

“Armenia is facing the most serious challenges,” noted Manukyan. “And only the sound mind shall prevail here.”

When asked to what extent it is appropriate to speak about the Armenian party’s willingness to make mutual concessions in case when Azerbaijan has adopted a tough stance, the ANC MP responded: “Azerbaijan has always had a tough stance; the losing party can’t have a different stance. But this is solely the talking style of the Azerbaijani party. ‘A barking dog doesn’t bite.’ Always remember: they talk, we take action.”
