YEREVAN. – A cross-stone devoted to the Armenian Genocide victims was unveiled and consecrated on August 21, in the yard of the St. Mary Armenian Church in Södertälje, Sweden.

The ceremony was accompanied by a Divine Liturgy, and the consecration of the baptismal pool of the church, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informed Armenian  News-NEWS.am.

The event brought together representatives of the Swedish state authorities and sister churches, and members of the local Armenian community.

In his remarks, Armenia’s Ambassador to Sweden Artak Apitonian noted that this first Armenian Genocide cross-stone in Sweden is not only a religious and cultural value, but it symbolizes the Swedish Armenian community’s commitment to national identity as well as the Armenian people’s determination to continue fighting for genocide recognition and condemnation.
