YEREVAN. – Helsinki Association Chairman, well-known Armenian human rights activist Mikayel Danielyan, has passed away on Wednesday.

Danielyan founded the Helsinki Association in 1997, and he chaired it to this day.

He also built and maintained strong and effective ties with both local and international partner organizations.

In addition, Danielyan delivered lectures to young human rights activists in Armenia and abroad.

In 2009, Mikayel Danielyan was awarded the “Freedom Defender Award” of the US Embassy in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.
