The residents of Mets Taghlar village, in Hadrut Region of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh), are among those living closest to the border with Azerbaijan.

The men of Mets Taghlar say they love their village, and they will stay on their land and defend it at the cost of their lives.

Even though the village has many problems, peace  is what the people here want the most.

“After the four-day war [which Azerbaijan had unleashed against the NKR in early April] we realized that those problems are nothing compared to peace,” said Armen Budaghyan, one of the oldest village residents. “Now, we only have a need for peace; we don’t need anything else.”

The women of Mets Taghlar stand out by their willpower and serenity. Not only men, but also women here are ready to sacrifice their lives, if needed, for their land.

“We have the strength to stay here,” noted Mrs. Marine. “And if necessary, we will stand with the men of our village and defend our land, as we did in April. What’s important is that our children be safe, and us—happy parents, at their side.”

The Mets Taghlar residents are confident that the day will come when there will be peace.
