YEREVAN. - The Criminal Court of Appeals on Monday dismissed the complaint on reconsidering the decision to arrest Armenia’s Founding Parliament radical opposition group leader Jirair Sefilian and Sasna Tsrer armed group member Gagik Yeghiazaryan.

Large number of citizens has gathered outside the Criminal Court of Appeals. They are holding posters depicting Sefilian and are scanning “Freedom to Jiro.”

In May, a criminal case was launched, in the framework of which Jirair Sefilian and 8 other persons were charged with illegal arms trafficking and possession. In early August, Sefilian’s case was joined with the Sasna Tsrer case. Now he faces charges under Articles 35-222 and 38-235 of the Armenian Criminal Code.

Gagik Yeghiazaryan surrendered to the police on July 27. He faces charged under Article 219.3.1 and 238.3 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
