YEREVAN. – We all know that there are problems in the schools in Yerevan, primarily regarding renovations, said Taron Margaryan, mayor of the capital city of Armenia, speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

In his words, even though about 40 percent of schools in Yerevan are renovated, there are comfort-related issues with respect to the other 60 percent.

“At the proposal of the President of the republic three years ago, all schools in Yerevan were heated [in the winter months]; this problem is solved,” said the mayor. “The second is the renovation issue, which we are implementing step by step.

“While measures for the renovation of schools were formerly provided only by the state budget, in 2016, the [respective] amount is envisioned from community budget, too.”
