The Nobel Prize medal belonging to the famous U.S. mathematician John F. Nash, awarded in recognition of his fundamental contributions to game theory, will be set to be auctioned at Sotheby’s in New York auction on October 17, The New York Times reported.

It is reported that the medal is estimated from $2.5 to $4 million. Nash died in a car accident in 2015. Nash became known to general public after a release of the biographic movie “A Beautiful Mind”.

Nash's award will become not the first Nobel medal sold at the auction. Thus, in 2013 Francis Crick's medal was sold for $2.3 million.
