In a small Spanish town, Buñol, which is 50 km away from Valencia, there take place tomato fights every year. The festival is called the Tomatina, reports the Americaru. This year the first fight in the streets turned into red rivers. Thousands of people arrived to Buñol to participate in the fights. This year, a total of 150 tons of tomatoes were consumed in a few hours of the first day. A total of 220 people took part in the festival, most of them were tourists. After the tomato fights had been over, the local authorities had to wash the streets with powerful water cannons. It is expected that this year the total number of participants will make about 20 thousand.
