YEREVAN. – Georgia’s possible membership to NATO will in no way reflect on relations between Tbilisi and Yerevan.

Maia Panjikidze, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, noted the aforementioned before the start of the international conference, entitled “Upcoming Challenges: NATO, from Wales to Warsaw and Beyond,” which kicked off Monday in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

When asked by Armenian News-NEWS.am whether we can expect Georgia’s accession to NATO in a foreseeable future, Panjikidze specifically responded: “I’m full of hope that Georgia’s membership in NATO is possible in the near future.”

And in response to the query as to how this will affect relations between Georgia and Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)-member Armenia, the Georgian ex-FM stated: “This in no way will affect Armenian-Georgian relations, since we have very good, long-standing relations, and in which bloc we will become a member will have no effect. (…) This in no way will become an obstacle for the development of economic relations between the two countries.”
