Typhoon Megi is expected to approach the coastal areas of Fujian and Guangdong provinces of China already on September 28, China Daily reported quoting the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

As of 5 a.m. Saturday, the storm center was located about 1,780 kilometers to the southeast of Taitung in Taiwan on the Pacific Ocean, packing wind of up to 23 meters per second.

Meteorologists predict that Megi will head northwest at 20 kilometers per hour to reach the Chinese mainland on Sept. 28.
