Tax remissions can help not all communities of Armenia.

First Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development, Vache Terteryan, said the aforementioned in the parliament on Tuesday, speaking at the discussion of the draft Law on Financial Equalization.

According to him, the opportunity to leave part of the republic’s taxes with the communities was enshrined in the legislation in 2002.

But the republic has about 900 communities, most of which are small and medium villages. In some of them the collected taxes are even less than what is spent on their collection. Thus, the communities can’t do without dotations. “But to be objective, they must be determined by various factors, including location (the higher its location, the colder the winters and thus more expenses for heating public buildings), distance from the capital and regional center (the farther the center, the more the transportation expenses), distance from the border and a number of other factors,” Terteryan stressed.
