The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the blasts which occurred in Baghdad Tuesday.

The attack left 17 people dead and another 50 wounded, BBC reports.

The suicide bomber blew himself up in the predominantly Shi'ite Muslim district of Baghdad al-Jadida. Another blast occured in  Bayaa district.

The IS fighters often choose civilians in Shi'ite districts as a target for their attacks.
