YEREVAN. - EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Herbert Salber will visit Armenia this week.

Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski said the aforementioned Tuesday at the opening ceremony of Euroclub in Yerevan.

In his words, one of the constituents of his mandate is to form an atmosphere of trust and establish contacts between people in Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The EU is funding programs on establishing trust between the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples, Świtalski noted.  According to him, Ambassador Salber is also looking for an opportunity to contribute to such programs.

The spokesman for Herbert Salber, Henri Duquenne, told Armenian News – NEWS.am that Ambassador Salber will pay an official visit to Armenia at the end of this week. In his words, he will also visit Baku next week. Ambassador Salber will hold high-level consultations with the leadership of Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, EU relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan and other issues of mutual interest, Duquenne added.
