The UK expects to be part of EU decision-making until Brexit, British PM Theresa May said during EU summit in Brussels.

As she noted, Britain should still be part of summits and negotiations when matters affecting all 28 member states were being discussed.

This was the first EU summit for Theresa May as the head of the government of the country, BBC reported.

Arriving at the summit in Brussels on Thursday, Mrs May pledged to continue to “work closely” with the EU after Brexit. She also stressed it was important to have a “united European stance” against “Russian aggression” that included “sickening” violence in Syria.

According to the PM, the UK will trigger Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty which officially starts process of Brexit by the end of March, 2017. This means that Brexit should be completed by the summer of 2019.
