YEREVAN. – The Prime Minister of Armenia, Karen Karapetyan, on Friday delivered concluding remarks after the National Assembly debates on the new government program.

“We really do assess this ‘load’ and the ‘[weightlifting] bar’ which we must lift,” said Karapetyan. “Is there a possibility that we will get ‘hernia?’ [Yes,] there is. [But] time will tell whether we will get [it].

“They [i.e. the political opposition] are saying, ‘You haven’t made a diagnosis, yet written that you shall do it.’ Twenty days are not enough to make this diagnosis. You say, “Why haven’t you written numbers?’ But if we haven’t made the diagnosis, [if] we don’t know the base numbers, will you believe in the rest of the numbers?”

The PM added that the government program is not with numbers, in numerous countries.

“They note where they will move qualitatively; the numbers are put in the budget,” stated Karapetyan. “This is a not so much a question of preference, but of approach.”
