YEREVAN. - I am sure that in the fight against corruption it is absolutely necessary to maximally eliminate the climate which creates that possibility, since fighting against corruption and establishing an institution against this phenomenon won’t eliminate it if the climate doesn’t change.

Armenian PM Karen Karapetyan said the aforementioned Saturday, responding to the question on the criminalization of illicit enrichment.

“In our opinion, we have written in detail what actions we will carry out to minimize this possibility in the fields of tax and customs, government decisions, procuremets, foreign funding and creation of equal and simple conditions for business,” the PM said in an interview with TV companies.

Responding to the question on the Council of Struggle against Corruption and the mention about changing its staff in the government program, the PM said: “I think the Committee of Struggle against Corruption is a necessary institution now. We should realize that the institutions and the existing climate are not ideal. For this very reasons an institution is established which will try to combine, sum up, diagnose and make certain decisions. We are trying to involve public representatives there now so that the field can be open. Besides, frankly speaking, the Government members are or must be so busy in their daily work that they might not get impulses form outside. That is the thing.”
