YEREVAN. - I see our country Armenian in five, ten and fifteen years.

Armenian Premier Karen Karapetyan said the aforementioned Saturday, responding to the question as to how he wants to see Armenia in five, ten and fifteen years.

According to Karapetyan, there is no formula of ideal governance which can be borrowed from one country and adapted to another.

“To be more precise, one can adapt but not duplicate it.  We, Armenians, are a very interesting and talented nation, but we oftentimes lack pragmatism,” he said.

Asked whether Armenia needed EAEU membership or not, the Premier answered positively: “I think yes. And I’ll say why, Because we are becoming a member of a club, whose market is growing and where it is maximally possible to allocate our potential capacities.”

To the observation that Armenia has not yet benefited from that membership, Karapetyan noted: “You’re right, but there is no analytics here: what would happen if we hadn’t joined it in this crisis situation. Imagine what would happen if we weren’t an EAEU member and our goods weren’t mainly directed to those markets. There is no such analytics. Secondly, our presence in the EAEU market doesn’t limit our work in other markets. We have a great potential of entering other markets. Does EAEU hinder us in some way? Certainly not. Thus whether we can take advantage of EAEU’s membership largely depends on us. If we don’t take much advantage of it, I think it’s not correct to blame others for that.  We don’t make friends with someone to show that we are against someone else, do we?  And making friends with others is not ruled out.”
