A light plane crashed after takeoff from Malta International Airport en route to Libya, killing all five crew members on board on Monday morning.

 It was noted that EU officials (Frontex) were onboard the crashed plane, AP reported.

The accident occurred at 7:20 a.m. (0520 GMT). Rescuers, doctors and firefighters arrived at the crash site immediately.

Now the airport is closed. This catastrophic crash became the most serious accident at Malta International Airport since World War II.
