A YouTube video has been posted, in which scientists talk about a possible mechanism for the destruction of the universe, and which could happen with the decay of false vacuum, reported Lenta.ru, a Moscow-based online newspaper.

Researchers suggest that the world being studied is in a real, or false, state of vacuum. The first state corresponds to the minimum energy state of the Higgs field, an energy field that is thought to exist everywhere in the universe. For the second state, however, there are a variety of possibilities for passing from zero to a deeper, real vacuum.

The aforesaid video refers to the second state. In this case, the matter in the universe will collapse, but, according to scientists, this will require a very long time before posing a threat to human civilization.
