The European Parliament (EP) lifted parliamentary immunity of the National Front party founder Jean-Marie Le Pen. Vote on this matter took place during EP session in Strasbourg, TASS reported.

The move follows a request from French prosecutors, who are building a case against Le Pen for inciting racial hatred in relation to famous French singer of Jewish descent Patrick Bruel.

The scandal erupted in France in 2014. Even her daughter Marine Le Pen and the acting leadership of the National Front criticized the politician.
