Russian ARLOSA corporation has thrice increased the export of diamonds to Armenia in three quarters of year 2016.

ARLOSA President Andrey Zharkov told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

In 2015, Armenian companies dealing with diamond cutting reduced diamond purchases due to the low demand for diamonds in the global market.

''We saw that our Armenian clients had accumulations of unsold goods. Thus, we increased the rejection percentage for them from 20-30 to 70 percent. That is, diamond cutters used to agree with us on the million dollar diamond consignment but had a right to buy 700-800,000 and withdraw from no more than 200-300,000.

In 2015, we did the other way round: out of million dollars the purchaser had a right to withdraw from 700,000. Our partners in Armenia reduced the purchases, this helping them empty the resources. And now we have returned to the previous purchase percentage. Now our partners in Armenia have no such accumulations. Of course, the circulation of diamonds is slower than during normal sales. The global demand for diamonds has reduced, but the prices still retain. This helps diamond cutters maintain their previous income,'' Zharkov said.

According to the national statistical data, in the first half year of 2016, Armenia increased the export of polished diamonds from 29.9 to 69.5 thousand carats.
