YEREVAN. - The factions of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Orinats Yerkir, Armenian National Congress (ANC) and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), on Wednesday signed a letter addressed to UNDP.

In the letter, they asked the UN to contribute through its experience and role to installing cameras during the parliamentary elections, which is stipulated by the agreement signed by political forces.

After signing the letter, leader of ANC faction, Levon Zurabyan, told journalists that on thе election day the UN should contribute through its experience also in other components of thе draft. According to him, the cameras will video record and ensure online broadcasting from all polling stations.

''The main objective is to ensure public control over lawfulness and rule out violations, including illegal voting, violence, manipulations with ballots, etc.,'' Zurabyan said, adding that nobody will have a wish to violate the Criminal Code on screen.

The PAP leader Naira Zohrabyan noted that the $2 mln funding of the program is provided by EU. ''As an institution enjoying maximal confidence by all the political forces, the UN will itself carry out the entire process of video recording so that it is not the issue of the authorities, opposition or any other political force. This is done to avoid further speculations.''
