A number of religious leaders have seen nothing unusual in removing the protective marble slab from the burial lodge of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem. In their viewpoint, it raises the interest of scientists only. "I see nothing unusual from a religious point of view," said Maxim Kozlov, first deputy chairman of the academic committee of the Russian Church. According to him, what has been done is linked to the ecclesiastical archeology only.

The press secretary of Moscow’s St. Mary Catholic archdiocese Kirill Gorbunov explains that the location of the Christ's tomb is a question of history, since the Christian faith lies in the revival of the Christ. On October 27 in Jerusalem, the scientists who has been restoring the grave of Jesus Christ for the first time in several centuries removed the protective marble slab from the burial lodge of Jesus.  The National Geographic reports that researchers will examine the surface of the stone; it can also be open for pilgrims.
