Pennsylvania State Court has sentenced a hacker to 18 months in prison for breaking accounts of celebrities and stealing their naked photos and videos. 36-year-old Ryan Collins was found guilty in May, reports the Russian service of BBC.
The investigation found no evidence that Collins is behind the release of the stolen photos. Therefore, the court convicted her of stealing personal data of 600 users only. To seize celebrities’ passwords, Collins sent them, including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Scarlett Johansson, and Kirsten Dunst, e-mails on behalf of Google or Apple support services. The photos of naked celebrities popped up in the Internet.
Collins stole pictures in the period of 2012-2014. She was charged in Los Angeles, but the sentence was handed down in Pennsylvania, where she lives.
