YEREVAN. - The Armenian National Congress (ANC) is the most mature, consistent, principled and leading opposition force in the country.

Leader of the ANC faction, Levon Zurabyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Responding to the question on the possibilities of the party in the upcoming parliamentary elections, the deputy noted: ''For already many years, the Armenian National Congress has been continuing its struggle without diverting its attention from the change of power in Armenia and establishment of democracy in the country.

Our participation in the constitutional referendum proved this. Besides, the initiated 4+4+4 process, through which we forced certain rules of game on the authorities in terms of the control over elections, was also indicative of this. That is, today we have the strongest position.''

But the ANC also understands that the people are tired, indifferent, alienated from politics, and don't trust political forces.

''We should also realize that this is a temporary phenomenon, and that the elections will change it. The people will gradually get involved in political processes and begin deciding which political force will express its will for the upcoming elections. And exactly the political message will decide who to follow.  I think the ANC has the strongest starting positions. But we shouldn't think that this is a guarantee for success: we still have lots of work to do towards overcoming the common indifference of our people,'' Zurabyan concluded.
