Secret cables disclosed by WikiLeaks give ground to the U.S. Hay Dat office (Armenian cause) to assert that Turkish government used the Armenian-Turkish protocols to suspend recognition process of the Armenian Genocide, RFE/RL reported.

“The documents that we have looked through clearly indicate that the Turkish government used the Armenian-Turkish protocols to suspend recognition process of the Armenian Genocide and exert pressure to reach pro-Azerbaijani solution to the Karabakh conflict,” spokesperson for the U.S. office of Hay Dat Elizabeth Chuljian said in an interview with RFE/RL. She stressed that they have been expressing concern over the issue from the very beginning of Armenian-Turkish reconciliation process.

She noted that Hay Dat keeps on studying details of the issued documents anyhow concerning Armenia.

“In a document dated as of January 1, 2010 U.S. Ambassador to Turkey James Jeffrey explains that although Turkish government promised much concerning the protocols it is unclear whether they intend to implement them or it is just ink on paper,” Chuljian said, adding that recent disclosure proves Armenian-Turkish protocols should be withdrawn.
