Karabakh conflict should be resolved on the basis of the principles and elements mentioned in the statements of the Presidents of the USA, Russia and France in L’Aquila and Muskoka. This was announced from the rostrum of the OSCE summit in Astana, by Prime Minister Francois Fillon.

According to him, these principles are “integral and indivisible”, NEWS.am correspondent reports from Astana.

“And lastly, as Co-Chair of the Minsk Group, France is determined to assist in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, to which there can only be a balanced and negotiated

political solution, on the basis, among other elements, of the proposals jointly articulated by presidents Sarkozy, Medvedev and Obama in L’Aquila and Muskoka. These proposals are to be considered as an integrated whole.” said the French Prime Minister.

The heads of state of the OSCE Minsk Group -- the Presidents of Russia, U.S. and France - Dmitry Medvedev, Barack Obama and Nicolas Sarkozy -- issued statement which notes “We welcome as a significant step the recognition by both sides that a lasting settlement must be based upon the Helsinki Principles and the elements that we proposed in connection with our statement at the L’Aquila Summit of the Eight on July 10, 2009, relating to: the return of the occupied territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, interim status for Nagorno-Karabakh guaranteeing security and self-governance, a corridor linking Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh; final status of Nagorno-Karabakh to be determined in the future by a legally-binding expression of will, the right of all internally-displaced persons and refugees to return, and international security guarantees, including a peacekeeping operation.”
