The Hrazdan private zoo is discussing putting down a lion that attacked his caregiver. It turns out that the lion was transferred to the Hrazdan private zoo from the Yerevan Zoo on the basis of acontract and was to remain there until April 3, 2011. The director of the Yerevan Zoo Sahak Abovyan said that he agrees that the animal should be killed by euthanasia. The director of the Hrazdan private zoo Armen Avetisyan is of the same opinion. However, the head of predator conservation at the Yerevan Zoo Juno Khanzadyan argues that the animal is not guilty.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, on November 28, at 5:30 p.m. the Hrazdan police department received a call from Hrazdan city hospital that a resident of the Hrazdan micro-district 21-year-old Nver Sargsyan had died at hospital.

The police discovered that the man had been seriously injured while feeding a lion in a zoo in the Hrazdan micro-district, photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan told NEWS.am.

According to local residents, the lion attacked Sargsyan’s leg. The injured was immediately hospitalized, but he died of blood loss.

The zoo belongs to a resident of the same micro-district, Armen Avetisyan.

An investigation is underway at the Police Investigations Department in Hrazdan city.
