Ilham Rahimov, vice-president of international lawyers’ union, met in Hungary with Azerbaijani Ramil Safarov, murderer of an Armenian officer. Safarov is serving life sentence in the jail in Budapest.  

“I managed to meet with prison’s administration and talked to cellmates of Safarov. He is fluently speaking Hungarian, studying English and actively training,” Rahimov said.  He stressed that Ramil is interested in Azerbaijani news, in particular the Karabakh peace process.

Ramil Safarov murdered Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan with an axe during NATO Partnership for Peace program in Budapest. The court sentenced Safarov to life imprisonment on charges of premeditated murder with extreme cruelty.
