The U.S. House of Representatives may vote on H. Res. 252, the Armenian Genocide resolution, next week, RFE/RL Armenian service informed referring to the Associated Press.

On December 17, leaders of Democratic Party had been discussing possible vote with the lawmakers, AP reported quoting House aides speaking on condition of anonymity. However, the agency failed to get comments from spokesman for the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

AP notes that vote will be a blow to President Obama and may damage relations between the U.S. and Turkey, Washington’s important ally.

On December 17, it became known that Nancy Pelosi intends to put to the vote the H. Res. 252 recognizing Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, last March the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee approved H. Res. 252 by 23 votes to 22.
