At a press conference, Turkish Ambassador to the U.S. Namik Tan commented on the failure of Resolution 252 at the U.S. House of Representative.

He pointed out that Turkish society has lately shown unprecedented resistance to the Armenian Resolution, and the authorities are happy about it. He stated that the work will be continued, as it was not the last Armenian resolution submitted to the U.S. Congress. Ambassador Tan called for a more resolute struggle against such initiatives.

As to what measures were taken to prevent the resolution from being put on the U.S. House agenda, Ambassador Tan said all the U.S. Congressmen received telephone calls. Now the Turkish side is calling to thank them. Ambassador Tan said he could not only get in touch with Nancy Pelosi, he said.
