New members should be included in the Armenian delegation to PACE to ensure efficient activities, MP from “Heritage” Party, a member of the Armenian delegation to PACE Zaruhi Postanjyan told reporters on February 1.

“In the coming year the Armenian National Assembly should include new members in the delegation. We should do our utmost to prevent PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu from reaching his goals, particularly not to adopt a resolution on Nagorno-Karabakh. We should make every effort to fail his attempts to adopt a pro-Azerbaijani resolution. This is possible if new members are included in the Armenian delegation and democracy strengthens in the country,” Postanjyan stressed.

Referring to the re-establishment of the PACE Subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh, Postanjyan said it was the result of the Armenian delegation’s poor work. “Cavusoglu abused his position and influence. The subcommittee was set up on Cavusoglu’s initiative and he succeeded in achieving his aims,” she noted.

In conclusion the Heritage MP said though she cannot forecast the results of activities of the PACE Subcommittee, she expressed confidence that Turkey-Azerbaijan duo has resolved the issue of shifting the Karabakh conflict resolution to another format.

As Armenian news-NEWS.am reported earlier, on January 28, the subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh resumed its activities at the CE Parliamentary Assembly (PACE). Jordi Xuclà i Costa was elected new chairman of PACE sub-committee on Karabakh during meeting of the PACE bureau.
