Azerbaijan is unlikely to resume hostilities, while numerous statements of Azerbaijani politicians are mere military rhetoric, said former OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair.

At a press conference dedicated to settlement prospects for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Vladimir Kazimirov said one should not respond to Azerbaijan’s military rhetoric, the Russian aif.ru website reported.

“The world community led by the OSCE should decide on the issue, as numerous threats to resume war voiced by the Azerbaijani administration undermine international legal norms and hinder peaceful resolution of the conflict,” he said.

Vladimir Zakharov, Director of the Institute for Political and Social Research of the Black Sea and Caspian region, told the journalists the truth is that Azerbaijan is engaged in propaganda, distortion of historical facts, including the Khojalu events and refuting the 1988 pogroms in Sumgait.

Zakharov also stressed the West has been recently playing a more active role in the South Caucasian conflicts. “Russia should play an active role in the Karabakh peace process and take clear stance,” the expert concluded.
