Forthcoming trilateral meeting between Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian leaders scheduled for March 5 is first of all aimed at easing tension in the Karabakh conflict zone, political expert Ivan Gharibyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He stressed the situation in the conflict zone has recently deteriorated and international community’s messages in this regard are justified. The expert deems escalation of the situation in the conflict area is mainly conditioned by Baku’s uncompromising stance which is targeted at disrupting the peace process and initiating hostilities.

As to Lithuania’s active efforts into resolution of the Karabakh conflict, Gharibyan said it is quite natural taking into account Lithuania’s chairmanship in the Organization for Co-operation and Security in Europe (OSCE).
