The Turkish Airlines (THY) wants to become a bridge between Armenia and U.S., said company’s top manager.

After opening ceremony of Los-Angeles- Istanbul flight Chairman of the Board of THY Hamdi Topcu met with the representatives of the Armenian community, Turkish Hurriyet newspaper reports. “Majority of Armenians residing in U.S. have come here from Armenia and want to see their Motherland,” Topcu said, adding that they want to open office in Yerevan. (Press service of the Armenian civil aviation denied the reports – Armenian News-NEWS.am).

They are doing everything so that Los-Angeles-Istanbul flight’s timetable will coincide with Istanbul-Yerevan flight. “An Armenian who will fly by THY will have to use the Istanbul airport and stay in the city for a day. In this case his attitude towards Turkey and Turks will absolutely change,” he noted.

He also stressed that about 1.2 million Armenians living in Los Angeles have a need of cheese and the company will transport it. “We also want to employ Armenians,” Topcu said.
